In 1987, Marco Palmieri, at the time - 22-year-old graduate of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Bologna, Italy, opened a company producing leather goods. In 1998, Palmieri registered his own brand Piquadro - "P squared" where P stands as a surname - Palmieri, and occupation - Pelletteria (leather goods in Italian). Now Marco Palmieri is President and CEO of Piquadro. Headquarters, offices and warehouses are located in the town Gaggio Montano (Bo). Piquadro specializes in producing innovative bags and accessories for business, which are notable for functionality and recognizability. All Piquadro products are the result of careful design. In 2013, Piquadro’s backpack Coleos won the design competition of the Wallpaper magazine in the category "The Best Bag".
